Marcus is a highly skilled exploration and resource geologist with 20 years’ experience in the mining and metals sectors, in Australia and internationally.

Marcus specialises in exploration planning, approvals and delivery and has held key managerial roles in owners’ teams and consulting companies during his career, including five years in the remote Chukotka province of Eastern Russia for Tigers Realm Coal.

Marcus joined Xenith in 2023 and is the Manager of Project Development based out of the Hunter Valley office. He is making an important contribution to Xenith’s next wave of growth and diversification by enhancing its Project Development Group offering across the mining and infrastructure sectors.

Marcus offers compelling value to Xenith clients, bringing significant technical expertise, business development acumen and leadership and client relationship capabilities.

Marcus has extensive resource geology knowledge that spans modelling, technical resource and due diligence across coal and minerals; coupled with experience in the full chain of services from project inception through to operations delivery.

Marcus is also the Chair of the New South Wales Coal Geology Council and is actively involved in knowledge-sharing with regional technical networks and next-generation industry professionals.

On a personal note…

Marcus spent many years working internationally and in various parts of Australia. These days, he spends free time with his children, in his garden or working on his Heritage-listed home in the Hunter Valley.

  • Exploration geology: Target generation and due diligence, project planning and approvals, contractor and project management.
  • Mine geology: LOM resource and operational (STM) model management, geotechnical stewardship and design FOS assessment, pit reconciliation, depletion reporting.
  • Resource geology: Structural and quality modelling (coal), structural modelling (base metals). Act as a technical expert for the purposes of resource assessment, model and resource compliance auditing.
  • Engineering geology: Slope stability assessment, site investigation and reporting, various construction inspections (infrastructure).
  • Technical report writing: Concept/FS/BFS, due diligence, NI 43-101, JORC and GKZ reporting, ASX releases.
  • Software proficiency: Minescape, Minex, Leapfrog, RocScience Suite, MapInfo, Global Mapper, various database platforms.
