The Queensland Government “Ignite Qld Fund” awarded Xenith a financial grant in April 2017 to continue its research and development of Xencrete. Xencrete is a concrete substitute composed of contaminants found in waste water produced in the production of Coal Seam Gas (CSG).
- Xencrete will solve the (CSG) brine beneficial use challenge.
- Over the past 4 years Xenith has been developing an elegant process to treat, capture and use the “contaminants” in the waste water produced by the CSG process.
- A patent application protecting the technology has been filed.
- The process is cost effective, environmentally safe, and harmless in health and safety considerations.
- The process involves a number of steps. The use of cement to bind the variety of salts and metals is unique.
- In combination the steps in the process provide a new and innovative approach to the disposal of a significant waste, which threatens the image of the emerging CSG industry.
- The significant grant from the “Ignite Qld Fund” will allow Xenith to take all the learnings from the University of Queensland’s studies and Xenith’s own home laboratories, into bulk field trials.
