Xenith is pleased to announce that Simon Rock commenced in the role of Lead Mining Engineer, based in the Hunter Valley Office, in July 2022.
With way too many years to count in the mining industry, Simon has gained an extensive knowledge of surface and underground mining operations, consulting and equipment OEM practices. Simon has worked in range of technical roles in both open cut and underground applications, across both coal and metals. Most recently he was the Principal Mining Engineer at WesTrac NSW. Before that, Simon was Principal Mining Engineer at Synergy Mining and Palaris.
Simon brings experience in operational and consulting roles in a wide variety of deposits and mining methods in NSW, QLD, WA, Tasmania and overseas. His ability to combine traditional mining knowledge and practices with innovative technology solutions has seen him develop and deploy huge operational advantages to many mine sites and deliver credible and robust strategic mine-plans. Simon’s work with the industry leading OEM, has seen him combine his real-world mining experience with an in-depth knowledge of machine and process automation. These technical innovations are the techniques that will drive future improvements to productivity, safety, profitability and ESG issues.
Simon said, “I am looking forward to delivering value to Xenith’s extensive client base, drawing on my experience and that of the Hunter Valley Team in the areas of geological modelling, JORC estimation, mine planning and equipment optimisation. In addition, my recent extensive experience in the design and implementation of autonomous mining solutions will ensure Xenith can work with our clients to maximise the advantages these bring to both the bottom line and in helping reduce GHG emissions”.
